MACHETE (For those who love blood and boobs)

I have never been a fan of any movie Quentin Tarantino has been associated with due to their obscene violence and their useless sexual content. However, against my will I went to see Machete last night. The movie started off with tons of blood and a naked chick pulling a cell phone from her vagina. In my head I'm thinking "Here we go with this nonsense...", but as the movie progressed I actually found myself enjoying it.

Machete's cast has nothing but familiar faces:

  • Danny Trejo as Machete ( I never knew his name until now but I've known his face for quite some time)
  • Jessica Alba
  • Michelle Rodriguez
  • Daryl Sabara (He was cute in the first Spy Kids movie, not so much in the second one. I almost didn't recognize him in this film. He is a full grown man now)
  • Lindsay Lohan (A friend and I spent five minutes during the movie debating whether she was actually nude or was it a body double...)
  • Robert De Niro
This movie was directed by Robert Rodriguez as a spinoff of Grindhouse and is in theaters now.

Final Lost Left Me LOST!

I hadn't watched LOST for two years until last night when the final episode aired. It was supposed to be the one episode that gave you all the answers to everything you been wondering about the island and the people who were on it. Since I hadn't watched the show in so long I expected that I would be somewhat lost but I felt I should know enough to understand what was happening. Man, was I wrong.

The show started at 9 pm and lasted FOREVER! The first hour was cool because it was business as usual. They were fighting each other and trying to get off the island which is nothing new. Then they were flashing back and forth from some kind of alternate reality. So 10:50 pm rolled around and I was thinking to myself "the show is about to be over and I'm still confused. These next 10 minutes better be the best 10 minutes in television history."    To my surprise the show didn't end at 11 o'clock.

Now this is my interpretation of what happened next. Everyone who was on the island were people who died during the plane crash but had not yet passed on. I believe Jack's dad was explaining to him how all of the islands inhabitants needed each other in some way or another in order to pass on and leave the island. However I was still left confused on whether they actually died during the crash or if they all died on an actual island following the crash. If any of you die hard Lost fans could help me to understand it would be greatly appreciated.

Signed - Still LOST.

Iron Man 2

I just watched the first Iron Man again and now I can't wait for the second one to come out. Lucky for me I only have to wait 4 more days. Iron Man 2 is going to be EPIC!

*SN: They replaced Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle? WTF! Someone tell me why!*

Brothers vs. The Hurt Locker

The movie Brothers shows how hard it is for soldiers to return to a normal life after serving in the middle east. The Hurt Locker shares the same theme however one of these movies came out miles ahead of the other in my opinion.
I know that critics rave about The Hurt Locker but I just can't see what makes it so great. In the first half hour it seemed like it was gonna be a good movie but then I noticed a pattern. One day, the soldiers went out to diffuse a bomb, and then the next day they went out to diffuse another bomb. And guess what happened after that, they diffused yet a another bomb. I couldn't even sit still during this movie cuz it was so boring to me. It didn't tell a story at all. I felt like the movie had no progress and it was hard to bond with the characters. I understood the destination but I didn't understand the journey.
Now Brothers had a similar destination but a much more interesting journey. The characters were much more relate-able and the movie had a story that you could actually follow. I would recommend watching this movie. I watched it twice in one day.
I'm including the trailer for both movies below. Let me know which movie you thought was better.

Guilty Pleasure Sunday

On Sunday nights I hate to love these three new shows on VH1:

  • Brandy & Ray J: A Family Affair
    • I can't believe how much VH1 loves to keep Ray J on the air season after season with two seasons of For The Love and Ray J and now this new show with his parents and sister Brandy. It follows Brandy and Ray J as they learn the ends and outs of the music industry as a business from their manager/mother Sonja Norwood. Sonja is the realest part of this "reality" show. For some reason I just love watching grown people getting yelled at by their mother. Pure entertainment for me.
  • Basketball Wives
    • Now this show sounds like it should be about the wives of NBA Basketball players. It turns out to be about bitter ex-wives and soon to be ex-wives who try to poison the mind of the one wife who seems be happily married. Lets hope they don't succeed.
  • What Chilli Wants
    • What to say, what to say about this show? Oh Chilli (from singing group TLC) why can't you find a man? Maybe its because your standards are ridiculously high. He can't smoke, can't drink. can't eat pork, must have six-pack abs, and the list goes on forever. Usher's divorced now. Why don't you just go back to him? I'm going to keep watching until you end up with him. And i'm glad you decided Floyd Mayweather wasn't for you. Keep it moving.

All these shows air back to back starting at 9pm EST on Sunday's on VH1.

My Tuesday Night Lineup

*Side Note*

So I've decided to change up the way I blog because my post seemed lifeless and dull. Therefore I will not write as if I am writing to nobody but I will write as if I am talking to a friend. Also, I will incorporate my new favorite thing: TWITTER! I've finally gotten the hang of tweeting so I will be adding what people are tweeting about the shows and movies I mention in each blog post.
*End Note*

Tuesday night has become my new favorite night of television. At first all it had was American Idol but it was starting to bore me. Then two weeks ago Glee returned and saved the day and now tonight is the premiere of the final season of The Hills. I know I blogged about this before but I am still that excited.

My LineUp:
1. American Idol at 8pm on FOX

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Avatar (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) [Blu-ray]

Make sure you pick up Avatar on DVD or Blu-ray this week. I would recommend getting this movie on blu-ray due to its stunning graphics and visual effects. It is truly a wonderful movie and perfect for Earth Day.

I'm So Excited And I Just Can't Hide It

I'm So Exited For....
Glee: Season One, Volume 1 - Road to Sectionals
Glee finally returns to FOX next week and obviously I am very excited. I don't know why I love this show so much but I do. I have been waiting for it to come back on for what feels like forever. Here's what next weeks episode will be about...

From Fox.com:
Fresh off their monumental win at Sectionals, New Directions is on top of the world. With an extra spring in their step, they get to work on new numbers for Regionals. But when Rachel and Finn's budding romance hits a bump in the road after she becomes involved with a competitor, Jesse St. James (guest star Groff), it threatens to derail the entire club. Mr. Schuester pays a visit to Shelby Corcoran (guest star Menzel), coach of Vocal Adrenaline, to confirm Jesse's motives. Meanwhile, Will is newly single, but is he ready to take his relationship with Emma to the next level? And to top it all off, Sue Sylvester returns from her condo in Boca with a renewed focus on destroying Will and disbanding the glee club.

Glee will premiere at a special time on Tuesday, April 13 at 9:28pm following American Idol on FOX.

The Hills: Season Five, Vol. 2

The final season of The Hills will starting in two weeks. I am only excited about this because I am interested in

seeing what the cast has to say to Heidi about her excessive plastic surgery. Hopefully we will also see her

divorce her deadbeat husband. You can watch the Season 6 trailer at MTV.com .  Season 6 starts April 27th
 at 10pm EST on MTV.

Adding to My List of Favs

New on DVD....

Law Abiding Citizen
Law Abiding Citizen
If you loved Inside Man (starring Denzel Washington), this is a movie you will also enjoy. This movie is non stop action from beginning to end. Never a dull moment. It stars Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. Jamie Foxx is playing an attorney working towards becoming the new DA. Gerard Butler plays a man who has been screwed over by the justice system who decides to get his own justice after Jamie's character doesn't give him what he wants. Now I don't wanna give too much away because this movie is a ride better taken when you don't know where you're going.  Don't wanna spoil the surprises now do we? ;)

On TV This Week

Shows to Catch Up On
Again, in no particular order...I just like to number things...
1. The Deep End
This show is in its first season on ABC. I started watching it not knowing what it was or what it was about but it turned out to be a pretty interesting show. It is a drama about five first year lawyers at a prestigious law firm and their bosses. I watched it on abc.com and noticed a comment that said this show is unrealistic. Ofcourse its unrealistic; its not a freakin' reality show its a drama. I thought the show was funny, entertaining, and has some familiar faces: Nicole Ari Parker from Soul Food (HBO), Tina Majorino from Corrina, Corrina and Napolean Dynamite, and Billy Zane from Titanic. It airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC before Grey's Anatomy.

2. Bad Girls Club
I resisted watching this show for so long but I just couldn't help myself. Bad Girls Club is a "reality" show (although I don't know what reality they are showing) about seven bad girls living in a mansion together for no apparent reason. I haven't quite figured out the point of the show but I can't get enough of it. If you like watching girl drama then this is the show for you. Airs Tuesday nights at 10/9c on Oxygen.

3. Modern Family
Modern Family is a mockumentary comedy about a traditional family, a gay couple who have adopted a Vietnamese baby, and an old guy married to a younger Spanish women. All three of these families are also related to each other. I like the fact that this show is not as predictable as others and isn't full of sappy "Full House" moments. Its a change from the norm and thats why i like it. Airs Wednesday at 8/7c and 9/8c on ABC.

Valentine's Day

Going to be snowed in for Valentines Day?

Pick up a DVD...

The Ugly Truth
This movie is fantastic from beginning to end. Absolutely hilarious. It stars Knocked Up's Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler from the movie 300. Butler's character gives dating and relationship advice to Heigl's character, giving her insight into how men think and what they want in a women. From what I hear his advice is very true to life. So pay attention girls! This movie is perfect for V-day! Just look at the hearts on the movie poster...Haha.

The Ugly Truth (Widescreen Edition)

Not snowed in?

I'm jealous!

Opening in theaters...

Obviously this movie is about Valentine's Day. I don't know if this movie is gonna be any good; the trailers make it hard to tell. But what you can tell is that there are a lot of big names in this movie. The list includes Julia Roberts and her niece Emma Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner (Team Jacob!), Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher, and the list goes on for days and days and days... So even if the movie isn't that great at least you will see a couple faces you like. This movie opens Friday February 12th.

TV Spot

What's New on TV this Week?

In no particular order...
1. American Idol
Tomorrow night marks the first episode of American Idol featuring Ellen DeGeneres as a regular judge. She is replacing Paula Abdul this season as one of four judges. Also this is the first episode of Hollywood week! American Idol airs Tuesday night at 8/7c and Wednesday night at 9/8c on FOX.

2. LOST
The final season of LOST started last week. Catch the latest episode Tuesday night at 8/7c on ABC. "The answers are coming..." so you won't be so "lost" anymore!

3. Celebrity Fit Club
If you love the occasional celebrity reality show as I do check out Celebrity Fit Club. The new season starts this week featuring Bobby Brown, Kevin Federline, Shar Jackson, Sebastian Bach, and many others. I can't believe how big some of these people have become. Now I can't blame someone who has pushed at three kids like Shar for putting on weight but Kevin Federline no excuses for you son. Anyway, Celebrity Fit Club airs Monday at 9/8c on VH1 with plenty of repeat showings through out the week.

That's all the shows I'm featuring this week. Happy viewing!

Season 8Lost: The Complete Fifth Season

Angels but No Demons

The Movie Scene

In Theaters....
I do not go to the movie theater much because the prices are raping my wallet but when I do somehow end up there I will let you know what I saw and how it was. So here it goes....

Walking into this movie I really had no idea what it was about. No spoilers here so no worries. When the movie began I thought that it was gonna be a movie about the devil or something like that but it turned out there were only Angels and No Demons in this film. Basically the movie is about Angels who have been sent by God to kill the next "baby Jesus" because God has lost faith in mankind. Now the way the angels went about doing this was very interesting cause these angels were far from any angels I have ever heard of. They were cursing and dropping F bombs and saying things like "you're all gonna f**king burn." But once you get over that, the movie is actually very good. I would recommend it for the storyline and the scare factor (for the easily frightened). Here is a link to the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGE_zSdCzDU

On DVD...
There are no new DVDs coming out this week that I would recommend seeing so I am recommending an older one in keeping with today's theme...
Buy this movie from Amazon.com:

The theme of this movie is very similar to its predecessor The Da Vinci Code but in my opinion this one is more interesting. It takes place in Vatican City where the Pope has just died. The 4 candidates up to become the next Pope have been kidnapped and Tom Hank's character is called in to help find them. It appears that the Illuminati is to blame. This movie has plenty of action, suspense, and mystery. Sorry no real angels or demons in this movie either.

Movie to miss...
I'm the type of person who hates to waste my time so I'm here to make sure you don't waste two hours of your life (or your money) on a horrible movie. This week the biggest waste of your time would be spent watching Jennifer's Body. I have to say after seeing this movie I wanted that hour and a half of my life back. Although the concept of the movie seemed interesting and the acting wasn't bad either but something was noticeably missing. I'm  going to blame the director and the script writers. Sorry to tell you this but you suck at life. Moving on...
